Mutemath released the fascinating and entertaining music video for their song “Typical” on youtube March 21, 2007, where it received 100,000 views in the first four days. The song reached No. 35 on the Mediabase Alternative chart by August. The members learned to play their instruments and sing the lyrics backwards and filmed the entire video in one take. The video was edited, then reversed to create this unique result.

It was a very difficult project to put together, taking three weeks to learn everything backwards, the drumming being the most challenging. “Typical” was the first music video released by the band and it certainly did its job in showing the their creativity.
