“If I could tell my younger-self…”

Many times you will hear people say, “I wish I knew then what I know now” or “If I could tell my younger-self…” Perhaps you have heard of people writing letters to their future selves. Children often loose themselves in daydreaming about what they will grow up to be. But adults can also find themselves lost in childhood memories, longing to relive a certain memory.

A Photoshop Time-Machine

Imagine if your childhood self and your adult self could meet and share in on the some adventures. In all reality that would be pretty hard to accomplish. But one man has got as close as you can without a time machine! Conor Nickerson is an American born but Canadian based photographer, musician, and song writer who has a love for Jazz. His unique photoshopping concept is starting to take the internet by storm.

The way the concept came to Nickerson to use photos of himself from 1997-2005 is best described by Nickerson himself. “While looking through some old family photos, I wondered what it would it look like if I tried to photoshop myself today into them,” Conor writes. “I gathered all the old hats and t-shirts that I could find and did my best to put myself into childhood moments which, aside from these photos, remain only a distant memory.”

While looking at all of the photoshopped masterpieces you may find it hard to believe that they aren’t photos of a man and his son. Nickerson’s talent is shown in this collection. A lot of time and hard work has to go into a project like this one. Nickerson had this to say about the process.

“It involved a lot of blurring, sharpening, and noise to try to get it to look like an older photo.” He went on to say “Editing the pictures and looking at them so closely for so long takes a bit away from the shock value, but seeing the final images all together definitely is a bit strange! I feel like me and little me would have gotten along pretty alright.”

It makes it so one can’t help but wonder, what can I do with my photos from my past?

“I did my best to put myself into childhood moments which, aside from these photos, remain only a distant memory.”

Conor Nickerson has a growing number of followers on his various social media accounts. You can find accounts for Mr. Nickerson on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube.
