Rupert Grint is known by many as the actor who portrayed Ron Weasley in the eight very successful Harry Potter movies based on the best-selling books by J.K. Rowling. However, most people have no idea what he has done since then with the $50 million he received for his part in the world-wide phenomenon. Trust me, it is a story worth reading.

“Rupert Grint is known by many as the actor who portrayed Ron Weasley in the eight very successful Harry Potter movies.”

Grint, who is often described by his “Harry Potter” co-stars as being eccentric, bought many odd things with his earnings; including a hovercraft and many miniature animals such as llamas, pigs, hedgehogs, and donkeys. But perhaps the strangest thing was when he fulfilled his childhood dream of owning an ice cream truck. Without a license, he is not able to sell the ice cream, so instead he drives around giving it out for free.

“But perhaps the strangest thing was when he fulfilled his childhood dream of owning an ice cream truck.”

He even brought the truck to set for the last day of filming. “The van often comes in useful.” he said. “I drove it up to the set on the last day of filming on Harry Potter. The cast and crew were having a barbecue and I supplied the lollies and ice creams.”

“My first ambition was to become an ice-cream man, which is why I bought the Bedford van. Not long after I first got it, I pulled into a pub to do a U-turn and there were eight kids with their pocket money out, hoping to buy a 99 or whatever. But I had nothing to give them. I’ve learnt my lesson since then… I keep my van well stocked. It’s got a proper machine that dispenses Mr. Whippy ice cream and I buy my lollies wholesale — 50 for a tenner — so I never run short… I’ll pull over and dish them out for free. They’ll say, ‘Ain’t you Ron Weasley?’ And I’ll say, ‘It’s strange, I get asked that a lot.'”

As strange of a purchase as it may seem, it is inspiring to see someone work hard to achieve their dream. I hope this encourages you to keep working toward whatever it is you have been dreaming of. It’s possible, things like this happen every day.
